History
Shenandoah was named after the Shenandoah Valley in the United States, which was the hometown of an early settler in the area. The town's economy was primarily based on gold mining, with several mines operating in the area in the late 1800s. The town was also home to a small school, which operated from the 1860s until the 1960s.
