History

Le Bons Bay was named after the French explorer Charles de Borda's cook, who was named Le Bon. The town was first settled in the 1840s by European settlers and was initially used for farming. The town has a rich history and many of its original buildings still stand today. The town's wharf was once used to transport wool and the town was also a popular destination for whaling ships in the 19th century.
